Know how citable your page is before you hit Publish
The Citability Score scans every post and page on 11 answer engine optimization criteria, right inside the Gutenberg editor. Red means fix it. Green means ship it.
A score for how well AI can cite your page
Traditional SEO scores measure keyword density and readability. The AEO score measures the signals that AI answer engines use to decide whether to cite your content: structured data coverage, content depth, FAQ patterns, meta descriptions, and more. It shows you exactly which checks pass and which need attention.
- Live in the sidebar. Scores update in real time inside the Gutenberg editor sidebar.
- Colour-coded. Green (80+), blue (60+), amber (40+), red (below 40).
- Full context. Shows issue count, word count, and last scan timestamp.
- Always current. Auto-rescans on every Publish or Update.
- Theme-agnostic. Works with any theme and any content structure.

Every check maps to something AI engines actually look for
These are not arbitrary metrics. Each criterion corresponds to a specific signal that determines whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, or other answer engines can find, understand, and cite your content.
The score weights each check and produces a single 0-100 number. Pass all 11 checks and your content covers every signal the score measures. Fail critical ones and answer engines have less to work with.
| Signal | What It Checks |
|---|---|
| Content Depth | Word count meets minimum threshold for the content type |
| Schema Markup | The page has schema markup that search engines can read |
| Schema Quality | Schema passes validation with no errors |
| Schema Fields | Recommended fields are populated (not just required ones) |
| FAQ Schema | FAQ-style content is wrapped in FAQPage schema |
| HowTo Schema | Step-by-step content gets HowTo structured data |
| Meta Description | Page has a meta description |
| AEO Readiness | Overall AEO configuration is active and working |
| Content Improvements | AI analysis suggests actionable AEO improvements |
| Speakable Summary | Speakable schema for Google Assistant voice results |
| llms.txt Entry | Page has a description in the llms.txt context file |

Yes. The score works with any theme and any content structure, because it scans the content itself rather than relying on theme-specific markup.
